Three Athletes Named as Finalists for Young Sports Personality Prize

Lionesses forward Michelle Agyemang, darts player Luke Littler and batswoman Davina Perrin have been selected as contenders for the 2025 Young Sports Star of the Year award.

The trio have been honoured for their outstanding achievements over the last year.

Agyemang played a key role in helping the Lionesses secure Euro 2025, Littler won the world title for the maiden time, and Perrin rose to fame with a unprecedented innings.

Littler won the award in 2024 after his remarkable rise.

The shortlisted athletes were revealed during a live broadcast on a popular morning radio program.

This year's winner will be announced during a live broadcast on the annual sports awards show on the 18th of December.

The ceremony will be aired from 7 PM GMT.

Agyemang's Profile

Age: 19 Sport: Football

Only 90 days after her first cap for her country, Agyemang played a dramatic and decisive role in England's run to Euro 2025 glory.

She came off the bench to score crucial late equalisers in both the last eight and last four matches.

Agyemang's stunning interventions led to her being named Young Player of the Tournament.

Later in the year, she was awarded the prestigious Golden Girl honour for the best young player in Europe.

She was also nominated for the Kopa Trophy for the world's best under-21 female player.

Agyemang, who has been playing for Brighton on loan from Arsenal, ruptured her anterior cruciate ligament in October.

"Being on the shortlist for Young Sports Personality of the Year is a privilege," said Agyemang. "I'm grateful to God and I'm thankful for the support I've received from my inner circle and supporters."

The Darts Prodigy

Age: 18 Sport: Darts

The year started for Littler in incredible form as - at just 17 years old - he became the youngest darts world champion in history.

He secured a dominant victory over Michael van Gerwen in the final.

His later win at the World Matchplay made him only the fifth competitor to complete the prestigious triple crown of major titles.

He didn't stop there - his victory at November's Grand Slam of Darts meant he ascended to world number one for the very first time.

At 18, he is the most youthful player to do so, smashing the previous record.

"Earning a spot on the shortlist for Young Sports Personality of the Year is a big honour," stated Littler. "Winning last year was a special memory for me and I've had another amazing 12 months. I want to continue promoting darts."

Perrin's Profile

Age: 19 Sport: Cricket

Perrin is one of English cricket's top prospects and surged to prominence with an remarkable and historic innings in August.

Her sublime 42-ball century in The Hundred is the fastest by an English woman in T20s.

It also stands as the joint third-fastest women's T20 century in a major league or full member T20 international.

Perrin finished second in the run-scoring charts and was named the Professional Cricketers' Association's top young women's player.

"I'm incredibly grateful to be shortlisted for the Young Sports Star award," expressed Perrin. "This is phenomenal. I hope it encourages more girls to get into cricket."
