The President Calls Relatives of Injured Military Soldiers to the White House

President Donald Trump stated on the weekend that he has invited the relatives of a National Guard member killed last week to visit the presidential home.

He added that he spoke to her family and they were “devastated”.

Background on the Devastating Shooting

Soldier Sarah Beckstrom, twenty years old, was fatally shot in a shooting on Wednesday in DC.

Her colleague, Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, is still in the hospital in grave state.

Memorials across the state have been held in their honor.

Presidential Call

The commander-in-chief said he’s proposed a visit to the White House for the parents of both soldiers of the West Virginia Guard.

“I told them: ‘When you’re able, because that’s a tough thing, visit the White House. We’re going to pay tribute to her,” Trump told reporters. “And in the same way with Andrew, no matter the outcome.”

Public Response

Community members gathered over the weekend at Webster County high school in West Virginia to honor Beckstrom.

Both she and Wolfe had been working with the West Virginia National Guard as part of the president’s government program to support law enforcement in the capital.

Honoring Sarah Beckstrom

“Sarah was the individual that educators hoped for. She conducted herself with calm resilience, a bright grin and a optimistic attitude that inspired people around her,” the principal, the principal of Beckstrom’s alma mater, informed the media. “She was kind, compassionate and always eager to assist people.”

Memorial arrangements for Beckstrom are still being arranged.

Judicial Measures and Policy Adjustments

Officials have indicted a twenty-nine-year-old individual from Afghanistan with a charge of homicide and charges of violent assault while carrying a weapon.

The incident led the administration to suspend refugee claims and temporarily stop providing visas to holders of Afghan passports.

Status of Andrew Wolfe

Wolfe, a resident of Martinsburg, began his service in February 2019 and is a graduate of his local high school, as reported by the news agency.

He is still undergoing care and is “battling to survive”, the state’s leader Morrisey said on a news program.

Attorney general the attorney general informed Fox News Sunday that she also intended to speak to his relatives.

Legacy of the Fallen Soldier

Sarah, from Summersville, graduated from Webster County High in mid-2023 and joined the military shortly after, serving as a law enforcement officer with distinction, per the West Virginia National Guard.

“She had a lot of goodness and she absolutely had courage,” Morrisey addressed the gathering at the memorial. “Though her life lasted far too short, she has made an impact that’s going to endure.”
