Curtis Jones has disclosed that Mohamed Salah said sorry to the team following the fallout from his recent interview.

What Happened

Salah was left out from a European match following making accusations and claiming his relationship with manager had deteriorated.

“Mo is his own man and he can say his own stuff,” Jones told Sky Sports. “His apology was clear and was like: ‘If I’ve affected anybody, please accept my apology.’”

Arne Slot has previously declined to comment publicly on whether he got an explanation from the player.

Looking Ahead

The player stated that the squad's reaction was unchanged. “He was his usual self, his demeanour was positive and we all treated him normally,” he continued.

The midfielder also implied that a player's desire to start is preferable. “I get that there are specific approaches you can go about things,” he said. “But if a lad’s fine to just not start, then I think that’s concerning.”

On-Field Response

The team's performance have stayed unbeaten in the games following the interview fallout. He feels the forward's comments were never meant to harm the team.

“When there’s been any sort of anger, it has consistently come from a desire to win,” Jones concluded. “It's behind us and we’re uniting strongly, playing well and on a positive run.”
