Both Deceased Students Identified in the Providence Campus Attack as Law Enforcement Persist in Hunt for Gunman.

The pair of scholars who were killed in the recent violent attack on the university campus had tributes paid to them on Monday – as a manhunt for their shooter carried on following the discharge by authorities in Rhode Island of the only individual detained in connection in the case.

Remembering Ella Cook

The young woman Ella Cook, a second-year student from Alabama, was described as “an incredible, grounded, faithful, bright light”, per the Cathedral Church of the Advent, Birmingham, which paid tribute to her at a gathering on Sunday.

Cook was the vice-presidency of Brown’s division of the College Republicans organization, according to the organization. Karoline Leavitt also expressed condolences publicly, remarking: “Words cannot express. Remembering her loved ones and companions, particularly her mother and father.”

MukhammadAziz Umurzokov

The other deceased individual was MukhammadAziz Umurzokov from Uzbekistan, from Uzbekistan in his initial year at the renowned school, his family confirmed.

The victim's identification was verified by the Uzbek Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“He possessed remarkable kindness, humor, and intelligence. His ambitions were lofty of pursuing a career in neurosurgery and aiding others,” Samira Umurzokova, his sister said in a memorial statement.

The Shooting Incident

Nine more persons were injured in the violent event in the engineering building of Brown’s grounds in Providence, during the school’s final exam period.

Law enforcement reported late Sunday that a 24-year-old male taken into custody in a search at a Hampton Inn about around 27 kilometers from the university earlier in the day was being released.

“There is a killer at large,” said Peter Neronha, Peter Neronha.

He continued, “Investigations can lead one way, and then you must reassess and pursue a different angle, and that is the current situation over the last day or so.”

Community Anxiety

The city's mayor, Brett Smiley, acknowledged: “It is expected to provoke renewed concern for our public”.

The shooter began shooting inside a classroom in the engineering building on Saturday, firing more than 40 rounds from a handgun, a law enforcement official informed the Associated Press.

Officers that raided the lodging found two firearms and two loaded 30-round magazines when the suspect was taken into custody, as was reported.

Condition of the Injured

Of the nine hurt, a single scholar was released from the hospital, stated the university president, Christina Paxson. Seven more were in grave but unchanging health, and another was critically ill, authorities stated on Sunday.

An educational institution, a private academy in Durham, North Carolina, said a former student, Kendall Turner, was in the group of seriously hurt victims.

Further Tributes

Cook was honored at a religious service in Birmingham on Sunday. A reverend stated, “She was an incredible, grounded, faithful bright light not only in her youth... but at Brown she was a radiant presence in that particular place as well.”

A group leader, Martin Bertao, posted a statement from the group. “Ella was known for her courageous, valiant, and compassionate nature as she aided her club and peers,” he said.

An American diplomat, Jonathan Henick, said he was “extremely sorrowful” by the passing of Umurzokov in a statement. “We offer our heartfelt sympathies to the Umurzokov family, loved ones, and schoolmates and grieve for of his potential.”

Saturday’s killings at Brown, the country's seventh most historic college with about 7,300 undergraduate and three thousand graduate students, happened during one of at least 392 shooting incidents recorded nationally so far in this year, according to statistics. The following Monday was the 349th day of the year.
